"American Baby" is the first radio single from Dave Matthews Band off of their 2005 studio album, "Stand Up". The song is also featured on the band's greatest hits album, "The Best of What's Around Vol. 1". The song, written the day after U.S. president George W. Bush won re-election in 2004, encourages Americans not to lose their culture in the midst of political and social trouble. Although American Baby is preceded by "American Baby Intro" on "Stand Up", the song is not technically an introduction into "American Baby". In concert, "American Baby Intro" is often played by itself as an all instrumental song that begins with a violin solo by Boyd Tinsley and grows until it reaches a frenetic pace featuring Carter Beauford's work on the drums and Dave's screaming. The music video was filmed at various locations around the United States, including The Citadel.
