Falls Church High School (FCHS) is a high school located in Fairfax County, Virginia. While the school has a Falls Church, Virginia mailing address, the school is not located in the city of Falls Church and does not serve the city of Falls Church. Falls Church is served by George Mason High School. The former principal, Janice H. Lloyd, stepped down at the end of November 2007. R.C. Bosley served as an interim principal and Cathy Benner is the new, permanent principal. The school serves grades 9 through 12. It was relocated from its former site in downtown Falls Church to this address in 1967.

Recent news

On December 5 2006, Falls Church High School was named a National Demonstration Site for the elective class Advancement Via Individual Determination, (AVID). [ [http://www.fcps.edu/suptapps/newsreleases/newsrelease.cfm?newsid=539 FCPS - News Releases ] ] Falls Church is one of only two schools in Fairfax county that have a full four-year AVID program. The AVID program is led by Francis Payne (Room 211). On June 1, 2007, at the Jaguars' graduation at the Patriot Center, on the campus of George Mason University, Ben Affleck made a special appearance as a guest speaker thanks to a student who knew him and was graduating. He made a speech and met with students and was also accompanied by his wife, Jennifer Garner. The boy's lacrosse team, coached by Geoff Young, went 11-3 in the 2007-2008 year and were district champions. The girl's lacrosse team went 10-5 and were district runners up. The Jaguars play their football, field hockey, lacrosse and soccer games at Paul Weber Stadium. The stadium has a natural grass field and has a capacity of 5,000 people. The track and field team runs on Major J. Wells track located inside of the stadium.
