- Morris L. Goodman

Morris L. Goodman was the first Jewish Los Angeles city councilman. He served from 1850 to 1854. Goodman was the sole American on the council at that time, the other council members being Mexican nationals. In 1854, he became a deputy sheriff in the San Fernando Valley.
