As of the 2005-06 school year, the district's two schools had an enrollment of 1,062 students and 74.0 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student-teacher ratio of 14.4. There are two schools; one primary school (K-3) and one upper elementary school (4-8). The middle school program is located within the Brookside (4-8) building. The administration of the schools includes district-wide services through the Superintendent of Schools, the Board Secretary / Business Administrator and the Director of Special Services. Additionally, in each school the administration includes a Principal and at Brookside (4-8) also a Vice-Principal. The Allendale Public Schools are governed by a five member Board of Education elected to rotating three-year terms.

For high school, public school students move on to Northern Highlands Regional High School, which is for students in the 9th-12th grades from Allendale, Upper Saddle River, and Ho-Ho-Kus, and part of Saddle River.
