Coatbridge ,Lanarkshire ) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a striker.Creaney began his career with
Celtic F.C. , signing from the boys club and making his debut in the first team in 1989. He played 113 times for the club, scoring 36 goals. It was during this time that he was capped for Scotland under-21, for whom he played in the1992 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship . At club level though he never fully established himself as a first choice striker with veteran strikers such asFrank McAvennie andCharlie Nicholas being preferred.He was transferred to
Portsmouth F.C. in 1994. He proved a success at Pompey, scoring 29 times in 57 games and earned himself a move toManchester City F.C. in 1995, with Paul Walsh moving in the opposite direction. This was Creaney's first opportunity to playPremier League football but he failed to prosper, scoring only four goals in his 21 City appearances. He was loaned out to Oldham, Ipswich, Burnley and Chesterfield whilst atMaine Road . Creaney was released by City in 1999. He had brief spells at St. Mirren, Notts County,Tampere United inFinland , Raith Rovers and Clydebank before retiring in 2001.
