The Staffordshire Way is a long distance walk in
Staffordshire ,England . The path links with theHeart of England Way The Route
The route runs for 147km/92 miles from
Mow Cop Castle toKinver traversing Staffordshire from north to south, setting out from gritstone hills on the edge of thePeak District southeast viaCongleton , Leek, theCaldon Canal and theChurnet Valley toUttoxeter . Here the route turns southwest via the Trent Valley, parkland atShugborough Hall andCannock Chase . FromPenkridge it turns south, passing to the west ofWolverhampton through gentle pastoral scenery and parkland viaBrewood to the dramatic sandstone ridge ofKinver Edge .The Way was opened in three stages by
Staffordshire County Council between1977 and1983 , and was resurveyed and refurbished with the assistance of theRamblers Association to mark the Association's 60th anniversary in 1995.The 76km/47.5-mile section between Rushton Spencer and Cannock Chase is now part of European path E2.
