Roy Kidd Stadium

Roy Kidd Stadium

Roy Kidd Stadium is located in Richmond, Kentucky is a 22,000 seat stadium home to the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels football team. Opened in 1969, the stadium consists of upper and lower level seating areas with the majority of the seats being metal bleachers. There is a reserved chairback section in the middle of the lower level and these seats are usually purchased by season ticket holders and Eastern Alumni. The stadium is named for long-time EKU Head Football Coach Roy Kidd who achieved well over 300 wins in his career at the university and led the team to two Division I-AA National Championships in 1979 and 1982. The stadium also houses three gymnasiums, two hand-ball courts, 36 classrooms, 60 offices, as well as the locker and training rooms for the football team in what is called the Begley Building.

In the 2004 season, 22,700 people ventured to the stadium to watch Eastern Kentucky battle its rival Western Kentucky, making the fifth largest crowd in the stadium's history.
