Christopher Tyng File:ChristopherTyng.jpg Background information Born April 25, 1955 Origin Brooklyn, New York, U.S. Genres Male Occupations Television composer Christopher Tyng (born April 25, 1955) is an American composer. He composed the music for several television series including Futurama, The O.C., The Job, The Baby-Sitters Club, Knight Rider, High Incident, and Rescue Me.
Futurama's opening theme sounds remarkably similar to the 1967 single Psyché Rock by Pierre Henry and Michel Colombier.
As was noted in the audio commentary of the Futurama episode The Problem with Popplers, Tyng is first and foremost a drummer; indeed, he accredits his composing proficiency to the awkwardness of lugging a drum set. As a convenience to him, his band mates would often bring their instruments to his house for practice. Tyng, then, had access to many more instruments, which he then learned to play.
