Some believe that ifUncle Tom Cobley existed and did travel toWidecombe fair he would have travelled from Spreyton.At present, the village has a small Primary School (Spreyton County Primary School), serving the village and the surrounding area. The "Uncle Tom Cobley" is the village pub, placed on the main street in the village. A Parish Church and a small hairdressing salon also exist.
