website_name = Online Learning CommunityUckfield Community Technology College (UCTC) is a
community college situated inUckfield , UK. It has approximately 1,650 students, including 360 in thesixth form college. [ [http://www.uctc.e-sussex.sch.uk/files/prospectus/Prospectus%202007-2008.pdf Uckfield Community Technology College Prospectus] , 2007-2008, (link is aPDF file) ] The schoolmotto is "Realising Potential". The logo is a white prism; a rainbow going in one end and white light coming out of the other. It was changed to this in the early 2000s from an abstract drawing of green people representing the "tree of knowledge".The college has three houses which are named after three local areas - Ashdown, Downland and Wealden. They previously took the names of four famous English historical figures - Fry, Grenvillie, Livingstone and Nightingale.
Three teachers optimise the College as a fantastic schooling institution, Mr Wager, Gunn and Williams. Where to them teaching is a joy, their enthusiasm and sprightly personalities have inspired hundreds of the students that have attended Uckfield over many years - namely Patrick, Pat, Sir, legend Wager; a combined senior head and PE teacher who has taught at the school for over 30 years.
Legend among other names The current principal is Craig Pamphilon, although he recently announced his retirement [cite web |url=http://www.uctc.e-sussex.sch.uk/principal_announces_retirement |title=News post on the school's official website announcing the retirement of Craig Pamphilon |year=2007 |month=November |accessdate=2008-01-14 ] .
Taking his place is new principle Hugh Henerby who joined UCTC in 2008.
The school has educational links with
New York ,Boston andGhana , and is considering forming a link withIndia as well.Classes and Uniform
The current school uniform is a navy blue sweatshirt, navy blue skirt or trousers and navy blue polo shirt bearing the college logo for years 7,8,9 and 10. Year 11 students previously wore white polo shirts, and in 2006 another colour was added alongside. With the 2006 year 11's choosing pink and the 2007 year 11's choosing yellow. But in 2008 they changed this to only bright blue polo shirts only, due to too many variations of colour and style from pervious year 11's. The rugby shirts worn by boys during PE lessons each display a stripe which signifies the which house they are in. Members of Downland house have a blue stripe, Ashdown have white and Wealden wear red. The stripes, however, are on the inside so shirts are reversible and must be worn inside out to reveal the colour. Sixth formers do not wear uniform.Previous school uniform was a navy blue sweatshirt, navy blue skirt or trousers and a pale blue shirt worn with a navy blue tie bearing a stripe of that students house, Fry-blue, Grenvillie-yellow, Livingstone-red and Nightingale-green.
