Tongwynlais

Tongwynlais is a village in the Taff Valley in South Wales. It is situated 5 miles north of Cardiff city centre and 7 miles south of Pontypridd. It has been part of the city of Cardiff since 1974 when it expanded its boundaries to also include St Fagans and St Mellons.] It was rebuilt and transformed in the late 1870s into a fantasy castle by William Burges for the 3rd Marquess of Bute.

There is a parish church and two Nonconformist chapels still open to worshippers in the village.fact|date=June 2008

Music

The band RocketGoldStar wrote a song about the village and recorded it for a BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Session.Fact|date=June 2008. Tongwynlais Brass Band has been in existence since the 19th century and continues to compete in national competitions as well as performing concerts.Fact|date=June 2008 Castell Coch Choral Society also does a lot of charitable work and has recently performed in the Czech republic.Fact|date=June 2008
