- Watsonia (journal)
-
The botanical journal Watsonia was a publication specializing in research into the native flora of the British Isles. It was named after the British phytogeographer Hewett Cottrell Watson (1804-1881). The journal was published by the Botanical Society of the British Isles. It was first published in 1949 with the subtitle "journal & proceedings of the Botanical Society of the British Isles".
Watsonia is being progressively digitized by the BSBI and made available online with unrestricted access.
In 2010 Watsonia ceased publication and in 2011 it will be replaced by the New Journal of Botany (print: ISSN 2042-3489, online: ISSN 2042-3497), a peer-reviewed scientific journal specializing in research into the native flora of the British Isles and Western Europe that is due to be launched in 2011. The new journal will be published by Maney Publishing on behalf of the Botanical Society of the British Isles.
