Gurabo is a section in Santiago de los Caballeros, the second most important city in the Dominican Republic. The most famous person from Gurabo is former president Hipolito Mejia.
Gurabo is best known for its Tobacco Plantations and Amber Mines.Flor de Gurabo cigar, a hand rolled cigar with flavors such as vanilla; being one of the most known brands.
Los Cerros de Gurabo (Gurabo), is a wealthy enclave of Santiago de los Caballeros, and it is located in the Northern Section of the City; adjacent to the lower and middle class section of Gurabo.
The area includes some of the most beautiful and largest mansions of Santiago and with it notable elevations you could see a big part of Santiago City, like the new HOMS ("Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago"), the Grand Cibao Hotel, the Cibao Airport and also the "Autopista Duarte" (Duarte Highway).
