- Registration county
A registration county was, in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, a statistical unit used for the output of
census information. Registration counties were formed by grouping together theregistration district s wholly or partly within acounty . As registration districts crossed county boundaries, the registration counties did not coincide precisely with any other types of county. The registration counties were used in census results from 1851 to 1911. They were in part a predecessor of the administrative counties.
