Shelley Powers

Shelley Powers

Shelley Powers is an author, web developer, and technology architect. She works with and writes about open source, LAMP technologies and web service development, CSS/XHTML design, web graphics, and the use of these technologies in the semantic web.

In addition to being author and co-author of several technology-related books (as well as numerous articles), and a strong supporter of RDF and the semantic web, Powers is an outspoken proponent for women in technology; an advocate for increased involvement and visibility for women in Internet and related technology fields. In particular, she works with others to point out the paucity of women speakers at many popular technology and weblogging conferences. As part of these efforts, Powers is also an outspoken advocate for increasing the visibility of women online.
