"Dream Brother", written by Jeff Buckley, Mick Grondahl and Matt Johnson, is the last track on Buckley's album Grace but is the penultimate track on later releases of the album. It is believed to be a song about a warning to a good friend, his "Dream Brother", from walking out on his pregnant girlfriend in a similar way to Jeff's own father, evidenced in the line, "Don't be like the one who made me so old".

The title was also a book based around the lives of both Jeff and Tim Buckley written posthumously by David Browne.

The Dream Brother that Jeff penned the song for was long-time friend Chris Dowd, formerly of Fishbone, currently leader of The Seedy Arkhestra. Jeff and Chris had been friends from the time Jeff had lived in Los Angeles.

It's a song about a friend of mine, who's led a rather excessive life... He is in trouble. This song is for him. I know what self-destruction can lead to, and I have tried to warn him. But I am one big hypocrite because when I called him up and told him about the song I'd written, that same night I took an overdose of hash and woke up the next day feeling terrible. It is very hard not to give in to one's negative feelings. Life is total chaos.[1]

The title is also given to a recent CD released featuring covers of Jeff and Tim Buckley's most famous songs, Dream Brother: The Songs of Tim and Jeff Buckley. Artists featured include The Magic Numbers and Sufjan Stevens.
