Hanwha (Ko-hhrm|hangul=한화|hanja=韓化), formerly known as Hankook Hwayak (Ko-hhrm|hangul=한국화약|hanja=韓國化藥), is one of the largest conglomerates, or chaebol, in Korea. Its main business is in chemicals and explosives, but it has also expanded into securities, insurance, home decor, telecom, retail, logistics, shipping, construction, and resort industries. It owns the Seoul Plaza Hotel and various resorts in Pusan and Jeju. Its line of department stores, The Galleria, is one of the most luxurious department stores in Seoul. It also has a professional baseball team, the Hanwha Eagles. As of April, 2008, it is bidding to buy Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
