The Guinness All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 2004 began on Sunday, May 2, 2004. The 2004 championship followed the same format as 2003, whereby the Munster and Leinster Champions automatically qualify for the All-Ireland Semi-Finals. In spite of this system there was no great shift in power as Cork and Kilkenny were still the dominant teams, in spite of losing their provincial titles. The final was a repeat of 2003 but was a much more tense affairs with Cork defeating Kilkenny by 0-17 to 0-9.
