Malik Fathi (born 29 October 1983 in West Berlin) is a German football player of Turkish (paternal) and German (maternal) descent who currently plays for FSV Mainz 05.

Career

In 2003–2008 he has played as a defender for Hertha BSC.[1] On 12 March 2008 he signed for Spartak.[2]

International career

He represented Germany Under-20 team at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship, Germany Under-21 team at European under-21 championship 2006 and earned his first cap for the German national team on 16 August 2006 in a friendly against Sweden.

Personal life

Before beginning his football career he played tennis for Hertha Zehlendorf Berlin and for Borussia Berlin. He also plays basketball in his spare time.
