October 16 ,1900 –November 5 ,1969 ) was an American film actor, producer, screenwriter and director who began working in films in the 1920s. The son of actressLillian Elliott , Corrigan directed films (usually mysteries), such as "Daughter of the Dragon " starringAnna May Wong (one of a trilogy ofFu Manchu movies for which he has writing credits), before dedicating himself more to acting in 1938.Corrigan usually played likable people, which was probably due to his round face and happy demeanor, usually businessmen or lovable rich men. However, in "
The Thin Man Goes Home ", he portrayed a murderer. He also appeared in a number ofBoston Blackie films as millionaire Arthur Manleder. He continued acting in films until the mid 1960s.
