"Planet of Judgment" is a "Star Trek" novel, written in 1977 by Joe Haldeman.

ynopsis

The crew of the Starship Enterprise detects a rogue planet, with a sun that seems no larger then a pea. Naturally this seems to contravene all known scientific laws. Assuming that the star is artificially made, Captain Kirk leads a a landing party goes to the planet's surface, where they become trapped. Two crewmen get killed. Mr. Spock leads a rescue party that unfortunately also becomes trapped. Two crewpeople die, falling victim to what Spock calls the 'Anamoly'. The stranded crew must rescue themselves before any more fall prey to the dangerous flora, fauna and intelligent natives.
