Tatyana ( _ru. Татьяна; sometimes romanized as "Tatiana", "Tatianna", "Tatjuana" "Tatijana", and "Tateyanna") is a Slavic female name derived from the Roman name "Tatianus", which was derived from the Roman clan name "Tatius". Titus Tatius was a king. The short form of the name is "Tanya" ( _ru. Таня). The name can affectionately be abbreviated to Tanyushka, Tanechka, Tat'yanka, etc.

The name honours Orthodox Saint Tatiana (Святая Татьяна, "Svyataya Tat'yana") who was tortured and martyred in the persecutions of Emperor Alexander Severus c.230 in Rome. Saint Tatiana is also considered a patron saint of students. Hence, Tatiana Day is now an official school holiday for students in Russia.

Tatiana Larina was a main character in Alexander Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin". In the poem he suggests that the name Tatiana was more common for peasants than for well-born women in the early 19th century. The poem was popular in Russia. The character of Tatiana Larina inspired the names of two Romanovs: Princess Tatiana Konstantinovna of Russia and her distant cousin Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna of Russia.
