United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 1.9square mile s (4.8km² ), of which, 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (8.02%) is water.Demographics

census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,298 people, 567 households, and 329 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 757.1 people per square mile (293.1/km²). There were 618 housing units at an average density of 360.5/sq mi (139.5/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.07% White, 0.23% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.23% Asian, 0.23% from other races, and 1.16% from two or more races. 1.31% of the population wereHispanic orLatino of any race.There were 567 households out of which 25.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.9% were married couples living together, 9.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.8% were non-families. 36.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.87.
In the village the population was spread out with 22.7% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 25.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
