The Minister of Rural Areas and Spatial Planning ("Espace rural et Aménagement du territoire") is a cabinet member in the Government of France.
The position has frequently been combined with the positions of Minister of Public Works ("Ministre de l'Equipement"), Minister of Transportation, Minister of Housing ("Logement"), Minister of Tourism and Minister of the Sea.
This Ministry had Merged with the Minister of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Territorial Development since the election of Nicolas Sarkozy as President of France. In 2009, he has been separated from the Ministry of Ecology and has taken the name of "Ministry of Rural Areas and Spatial Planning". The Minister is Michel Mercier.
