Paris ,France . It was known in its early years as line "2 Nord" (2 North) because it consisted of the northern portion of a circular metro line. That name was abandoned when line 5 absorbed line "2 Sud" (2 South) in 1907 (it would later lose it again to line 6 in 1942.) It is the seventh busiest line on the network.An

December 13 ,1900 : The first portion of line "2 Nord" was opened between Porte Dauphine and Étoile.
*October 7 ,1902 : The line was extended from Étoile to Anvers.
*January 31 ,1903 : The line was extended from Anvers to Bagnolet.
*April 2 ,1903 : The line was extended from Bagnolet to Nation.
*August 10 ,1903 : Ashort circuit on a train caused a disastrous fire that killed 84 people at Couronnes and Ménilmontant stations.
*October 14 ,1907 : Line "2 Nord" was renamed line 2.Map and Stations
