Triple Award Science

Triple Award Science

In the United Kingdom, Triple Award Science, unlike Single Award Science and Double Award Science, is not "combined" GCSE study of science - rather, the term is a short-hand reference to individual GCSE subjects in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. For example, if one studies Double Award Science, on their GCSE certificate, they will be credited with two GCSEs in Double Award Science. If they study what is commonly referred to as Triple Award Science, however, they will get one GCSE in Biology, one in Chemistry and one in Physics.i

This is a pupil's best bet if he or she is intending to study a scientific subject beyond GCSE, as it is obviously the most in-depth method of learning about the subject. It is no longer possible to study a science subject of your choice at GCSE, save under the Edexcel iGCSE system - you must choose either combined science (either single award or double award) or all three main sciences.

In the UK, it is compulsory to study Science (choose between Triple, Double or Single award) along with English (Lit. and Lang.), Mathematics (you can do an Entry Level Qualification, if GCSE is unsuitable), and also, in Wales, Welsh (although some schools GCSE qualification is optional).

There is a new science curriculum which will begin in September 2007.

How if taking triple science and getting three sepertate GCSE be the same as taking three separate sciences, How can a student be credited for learing a 3rd of each science "triple science" as the same as someone who has studied 3 separate science subjects.....How can they be credited the same?
