The party was a joint effort by the organizers of Amiga party Symposium, held previously in 1995 and 1996, and PC party Mekka, held in 1996.
In 2002, the organizers announced that they would not organize MS anymore, stating "irreconcilable personal differences within the main organizer team". The majority of personnel went on to create Breakpoint in 2003.
