North Carolina , United States, established in 1979. It serves grades nine through twelve, with approximately 1400 students enrolled.Athletics
Southwest Guilford High School has won state championships in sports such as
tennis ,soccer ,golf ,volleyball , andbaseball . Their most recent state championship was their girls volleyball team in the 2006 season. The Athletics Director of Southwest Guilford is Brindon Christman. Commentating for Southwest athletics games is the "voice of the Cowboys," Tom Parker.The school's
football team had success in the early 1980's finishing 12-1 in 1980/81, 9-3 in 1981/82, 9-3 in 1982/83 and 10-2 in 1983/84. Prior to the 2003 season, the football team had lost 34 out of the last 35 games and had the longest losing streak in the state with 18 consecutive losses. According to local media, the team went 0-11 in 2002. The football program had only won a combined six games in the four prior years.The team under coach Bryan Davis improved each season from 2003-2006. During those regular seasons the 2003 team was 2-9, the 2004 team was 4-7 (trip to the state playoffs), the 2005 team was 5-6 (trip to the state playoffs), and the 2006 team was 6-5 (trip to the state playoffs). Scott Schwarzer is the current coach.
