cities=Atlanta,Georgia Interstate 420 (I-420) was a highway planned to split off
Interstate 20 atDouglasville, Georgia on the west side ofmetro Atlanta , then continue eastward to the south ofdowntown Atlanta , merging at ahighway interchange with proposed Interstate 475 and traveling northeastward with it back to I-20. The only portion of it actually built was State Route 166, known asLakewood Freeway and nowLangford Parkway . The portion west of I-285 on the west side, and east of I-75 were never built, due to the public opposition which saved those communities in its path. The I-475 it was to connect to was never built either, for the same reason.I-475 was later built as a bypass aroundMacon, Georgia .References
