Kimothy Emil Batiste (born
March 15 ,1968 inNew Orleans, Louisiana ) is a formerMajor League Baseball player for thePhiladelphia Phillies (1991-1994) andSan Francisco Giants (1996), both of theNational League . He was drafted in the third round of the by|1987 amateur draft by the Phillies. His major league debut came in by|1991 with the Phillies. He was a key component of the Phillies1993 National League Championship Series victory, delivering a game-winning single in the 10th inning of Game 1, though it was his error in the 9th inning that allowed the Braves to tie the game and force extra innings. As noted in the official 1993 World Series highlight video, he is known as a defensive specialist.Batiste played four seasons with the Phillies as a backup shortstop and third baseman, and was released on
May 15 , by|1995. OnJune 2 , he was signed as a free agent by theBaltimore Orioles . He did not play at the major league level for the Orioles, and was drafted by the Giants from the Orioles in the 1995Rule 5 Draft onDecember 4 , by|1995. He played one year with the Giants before being released onOctober 1 , by|1996. Batiste went on to play in the independentAtlantic League , batting .233 in 12 games in by|2003 for theAtlantic City Surf in his final professional season.Batiste has retired from baseball and currently resides in Baton Rouge, LA.
