binomial_authority = von Huene, 1932"Iliosuchus" (meaning "crocodile hipped") was a
Europe andinosaur of theBathonian (169.2 - 164.4 mya). It was approximately 1.5 m (5 ft) in length. The only fossil record (
BMNH R83) is two ilia fromStonesfield Slate ,Oxfordshire ,England . These small ilia have a super-acetabular ridge on the surface, similar totyrannosaurid s and "Piatnitzkysaurus ". However such an incomplete skeleton is inadequate for accurate classification, but is tentatively considered atyrannosaur id ancestor. From these samples, von Huene described the only species, "I. incognitus", in1932 . Another species, "I. clevelandi", was named in1974 but has since been moved to "Stokesosaurus clevelandi".References
