Ellesmere College is an independent co-educational English
public school located in Ellesmere and based in ruralNorth Shropshire ,England .History
It was founded in
1884 by Canon Nathaniel Woodard as a boys' school in association with theChurch of England , on a seventy-acrecampus , with views across to the Breidden Hills.Description
Pupils range in ages from 7 to 18, and the school consists of a
Lower School ,Middle School , Senior School andSixth Form .In addition to academic classroom work, the school places a strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities, such as artistic, sporting or outdoor endeavours.
The school is now a rugby academy and offers scholarships for talented young rugby players.
The musical tradition is strong, and it has two of the finest
pipe organs in England. More than thirty per cent of the students learn to play amusical instrument . Thedrama andart traditions are strong also.All students are encouraged to join the CCF,
social services or theDuke of Edinburgh ’s Award Scheme. Along with these activities, the college media department has flourished in the last few years, the cumulation of which was a feature film entitled 'CJ Simmons - Elite Mercenary'. Created by Chris Bevan, Alexander Burley and Hadleigh Roberts, the film was a huge success and spawned a continuing series, Dissolution.Ellesmere is a member of the Woodard Corporation of Schools, and has a Drama Exchange relationship with
Tabor Academy inMarion, Massachusetts in theUnited States .In 1978 the movie "Absolution" starring
