Olympic Games Bronze 2000 Sydney 1500 m freestyle World Championships (SC) Silver 2002 Moscow 1500 m freestyle Pan American Games Bronze 2003 Santo Domingo 1500 m freestyle Pan Pacific Championships Bronze 1999 Sydney 1500 m freestyle Christopher ("Chris") Lee Thompson (born November 30, 1978 in San Diego, California), (raised in Roseburg, Oregon) is an American swimmer, who won the bronze medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in the 1500 m freestyle. He was the second American swimmer to go below the 15 minute mark on the 1500m and held the American Record for 4 years. He attended the University of Michigan where he was a member of the varsity team from 1997 to 2001. Both at Michigan and as a post graduate Chris swam under legendary coach Jon Urbanchek from 1997 to 2004. He still holds the NCAA and American records in the 1650 yard freestyle.
