B'nai Brith Perlman Camp

The B'nai Brith Perlman Camp (BBPC) is a Jewish Summer camp located in Lake Como, Pennsylvania, USA. The camp first opened in 1954 on the site of former Camp Windsor and has also been know as Camp B'nai Brith (CBB).

Before being acquired by B'nai B'rith January 1954, the convert|365|acre|km2|sing=on campground with a 13 acre lake was known as Camp Windsor.

Campers entering grades three through ten are housed in bunks, while campers entering grade eleven live in platform tents in the woods. They are known as pioneers or "pios".

There are American and international staff. Most international staff are from England, Australia, or Israel. Many campers later become counselors.

Campers also come from all over America and some come from France or Israel.

There are two "sessions" of camp. The first session is four weeks, and the second session is the three weeks. A new rookie program is a two week session for kids who just want to get the "feel" of camp. Campers can choose to come to camp for either or both of the sessions.

On the fourth of July there is a carnival, followed by in camp fireworks.

One of the many highlights of the summer is Maccabiah (color war). There are two teams-blue and red. There are many events including various team sports, rope burning contest, and the Apache relay. The last night/afternoon is Sing. In Sing each team comes up with an entrance, a fight song, a friendship song, and a skit. Each team is judged on their performance. At the end of Sing the winner is announced in a creative way.

Current Director, Joe Finklestein has been at Perlman since 2004 and this year Perlman welcomed an old friend, Lewis Sohinki as assistant director. Lewis had been a camper and staff at camp from 1989-2003.

On September 9th, 2008 it was announced that Joe resigned from his position as director. Lewis was promoted from Assistant director to director and Pete Golden was brought in as the new associate director.

Starting in 1957, BBYO began to hold leadership training programs at the camp. In 1959, the first Leadership Training Conference was held there. In 1961, Kallah was started to be held there prior to this LTC.
