Somerville High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school of the Somerville Public Schools serving students from Somerville and Branchburg Township in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. Timothy O'Halloran is the school's principal. Other administrative positions are filled by Patricia Bucci (assistant principal), Gerard Foley (head of guidance), and Jeffrey Caulfied (disciplinarian).

Students from Branchburg Township attend Somerville High School as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Branchburg Township School District. Advanced Placement Program (AP) courses (such as AP United States Government and Politics) and the Senior Options Program at Raritan Valley Community College allow students the opportunity to earn college credits while attending high school. During the 2004-05 school year, students enrolled in thirteen AP courses. The 2005-06 school year offerings include AP Biology, AP Calculus (AB/BC), AP Chemistry, AP English Literature and Composition, AP French Language, AP United States Government and Politics, AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP Music Theory, AP Physics, AP Spanish Language and AP United States History.

Awards and Recognition

The school was the 73rd-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 314 schools statewide, in "New Jersey Monthly" magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools". The school was ranked 74th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which included 316 schools across the state. Athletics

Somerville High School competes in the Skyland Conference, which is made up of public and parochial high schools covering Hunterdon County, Somerset County and Warren County in west central New Jersey. The conference operates under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).]

The boys soccer team won the 2006/2007 Central, Group II state sectional championship with a 3-1 win over Raritan High School in the tournament final. The Boys Track team has been the most dominant sport in the school during the past decade. Going into the 2008 spring season, the team has won 62 dual meets in a row. They have been the Central Jersey Group II sectional champions the past seven years, and have won five Group II State Championships in that period.Fact|date=January 2008

SHS Marching Band

The Somerville High School Pioneer Marching Band finished off their season performing this years theme, "The Land of Make Believe" at a Competition at Giants Stadium. They scored an overall superior rating of 93.175. The band was led by band director Matthew Krempasky and assisted by Mr. Stephen Lorretti.

Robotics

Somerville's robotics team is Team 102, The Dexterous Gearheads. Team102 participates in the Trenton and Long Island FIRST regionals. Recent awards include the Judges award in Trenton (2008) and the Motorola Enginnering Design Award at Long Island (2007). The team has been to Atlanta in 2007 and other years prior.
