Land Rover Group (LRG) was a division of
British Leyland and later theRover Group which included the brandsLand Rover ,Range Rover , andFreight Rover . Later LRG formed part of the larger Land Rover Leyland Group which was BL/Rover's commercial vehicle division.In 1987 the Leyland Trucks division of the "Rover Group", including the Freight Rover van making interests merged with the Dutch
DAF Trucks company to formDAF NV , which was later floated on the Dutch stock exchange. "Land Rover" remained with Rover Group.The
BMW break-up of what was left of theRover Group in 2000 saw Land Rover being sold toFord for £1.8 billion. Ford sold Land Rover toTata Motors in 2008.
