Land Rover Group

Land Rover Group (LRG) was a division of British Leyland and later the Rover Group which included the brands Land Rover, Range Rover, and Freight Rover. Later LRG formed part of the larger Land Rover Leyland Group which was BL/Rover's commercial vehicle division.

In 1987 the Leyland Trucks division of the "Rover Group", including the Freight Rover van making interests merged with the Dutch DAF Trucks company to form DAF NV, which was later floated on the Dutch stock exchange. "Land Rover" remained with Rover Group.

The BMW break-up of what was left of the Rover Group in 2000 saw Land Rover being sold to Ford for £1.8 billion. Ford sold Land Rover to Tata Motors in 2008.
