The vocal effects are strikingly similar to those onthe Beatles ' "Lovely Rita " from "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band " which was recorded around the same time, in the same studio location,Abbey Road Studio , whose recording Pink Floyd briefly witnessed; therefore "Lovely Rita" likely influenced this composition. In addition to the vocal effects, piano is a prominent instrument in this piece.Toc H . was the army signallers' code for "TH", representing Talbot House, a club where officers and enlisted men were equals. It later became an interdenominational Christian fellowship organization serving the community. "Pow R. Toc H." may have been a conscious effort by the band to produce a sequel to "Interstellar Overdrive ", another instrumental from the same album.Alternative and live versions
Pow R. Toc H. was renamed "The Pink Jungle" in the "Journey" part of "
The Man and the Journey ". Pink Floyd performed the song live from1967 to1969 .Personnel
