It's a solitary nocturnal and terrestrial animal, living, usually, in the vicinity of streams and swamps. It feeds onarthropods and otherinvertebrates .The Great Long-nosed Armadillo has spurs on the hindlegs that allow them to crawl on their knees into narrow tunnels. When threatened they can release a disagreeable musky odor.
