Algerian Muslim Scouts

Algerian Muslim Scouts ( _fr. Scouts Musulmans Algériens ("SMA"), _ar. الكشافة الاسلامية الجزائرية) is the national Scouting association in Algeria. Scouting in Algeria began formatively around 1911, but Scouting was officially founded in French Algeria in 1935, introduced by French Scouts, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1963. SMA has 11,120 members as of 2008.cite web |title=Triennial Report 2005-2008 |url=http://scout.org/en/content/download/11615/94838/file/Triennial_Report_EN.pdf |publisher=World Organization of the Scout Movement |accessdate=2008-07-13] Members are actively involved in national construction and community development projects. They have constructed schools, improved roads, planted trees and conducted literacy campaigns.

The Scout Motto is "Kun Musta'idan" or كن مستعداً, "Be Prepared" in Arabic, and "Sois Prêt" in French. The noun for a single Scout is "Kashaf" or "el-Kechaf" or كشاف in Arabic.

The Scout emblem incorporates elements and color scheme of the flag of Algeria.

Girl Guiding

Although Algeria does have a Guiding organization, work towards World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts membership recognition remains unclear.
