Kilmacow ("Cill Mhic Bhúith" in Irish) is a small village in south County Kilkenny, Ireland.

Geography

Situated about 7km south of Mullinavat and 8 km north from Waterford City, Kilmacow consists of an Upper and Lower Village approximately 1 km apart. The population of each of the villages is just under 700, while that of the Kilmacow area as a whole totals over 2,000.

Pubs in Kilmacow include The Den, The Thatch, Irishes, Cookes (currently closed), and Carrol's (Seanti) & Kearn's.

Education

Kilmacow has three primary schools: a mixed school at Strangsmills, a boys' school in Dangan, and a girls' school in the Upper Village.

Sport

Kilmacow has a hurling team which competes in the Junior Hurling Championship. However, they have failed to win the championship since 1956.

Twinning

Kilmacow is twinned with the village of Saint-Thurien (Brittany) in France.
