Goskino

Goskino ( _ru. Госкино) is the abbreviated name for the USSR State Committee for Cinematography (Государственный комитет по кинематографии СССР) in the Soviet Union and the State Committee of Russian Federation for Cinematography (Государственный комитет Российской Федерации по кинематографии) in the modern Russia, both being the supreme government organs in charge of the cinematography [http://www.panorama.ru/prav/goskino.shtml (russian)] .

It was absorbed by the USSR Ministry of Culture in 1953 but became an independent organization again in 1963.

It performed both general management and censorship functions.

In the modern Russian Federation, the counterparts were Roskomkino and Roskultura.
