Publication history

Dominus first appeared in X-Men #21 (June 1966) entitled "From whence comes... Dominus?", by Roy Thomas and Jay Gavin.[1] However, he was first mentioned in X-Men #20, in which Professor Charles Xavier reveals to Jean Grey that one of the reasons he founded the X-Men was to combat further threats from Lucifer.

The character subsequently appears in West Coast Avengers II #17 (February 1987).

Dominus received an entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update '89 #2.

Fictional character biography

Dominus was the channel by which the alien race known as "The Arcane" conquered planet after planet.

At Lucifer's command post, the Supreme One tells Lucifer that the time is ready for his true purpose- to deploy Dominus. Dominus and Lucifer were then temporarily defeated by Charles Xavier, who suffered a debilitating injury in the process. The X-Men would go on defeat Lucifer permanently.

Dominus' Minions

Dominus employed a number of servants to contend with the costumed champions who opposed its attempts to conquer the Earth. One of them was Sunstroke, a human being. The others were sentient beings created from lizards ("Gila"), cacti ("Cactus"), and rocks ("Butte") by means of the robot's alien technology. Dominus was able to create duplicates of each of the three artificially created beings.
