Kyle Pontifex

Kyle Marshall Pontifex (born February 5, 1980 in Wellington) is a field hockey goalkeeper from New Zealand, who earned his first cap for the national team, nicknamed "The Black Sticks", in 2001 against Malaysia. He's spent a number of years as understudy to first choice Paul Woolford and is currently challenging for the number one position. His good form at the 2005 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup saw him earn the top spot for the bronze medal match, highlighting his ongoing development.
