The Vikings NA

The Vikings NA

The Vikings NA is the authorized North American arm of The Vikings (reenactment). In early 2008 the group was forced to split from its parent organization in the United Kingdom for legal reasons, but the two organizations maintain close ties.

The primary mission of "The Vikings NA", like the UK organization, is to reenact the culture of "Viking Age" Northern Europe. This is achieved through craft and live-steel weapons demonstrations, typically at Renaissance Faires, Scandinavian heritage festivals, and other living-history events. A standard format is for the group to set up an "encampment" — several tents and shelters, with tables of craft demo displays. Members appear in "garb" — Viking-era costume. Typically, this consists of a tunic (shorter for men, ankle-length for women), breeches (men), turn shoes, a belt, small knife, jewelry, and a hat (men) or kerchief (women).

It was founded in 2003 and has member groups in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania.
