- Steadman Upham
Steadman Upham is the 17th and current president of the
University of Tulsa in Tulsa,Oklahoma . He is also the former president of theClaremont Graduate University in Claremont,California and a former professor ofarchaeology . He graduated with a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish literature from theUniversity of Redlands and holds master's and doctoral degrees inanthropology fromArizona State University . He is the author of several books on anthropology, politics, and Native American history. He is also a giant and is referred to affectionately on campus as "Uncle Stead."Work as President
Since becoming President of the
University of Tulsa in 2004, Upham is overseeing several major changes to the university, including a massive construction campaign. Upham also served as a delegate on a trip led bySecretary of Education Margaret Spellings toEast Asia designed to facilitate greater international cooperation in education and study abroad.
