- Poland and the euro
Under the terms of the
Treaty of Accession 2003 , allnew Member States "shall participate in the Economic and Monetary Union from the date of Accession as a Member State with a derogation", which means thatPoland is obliged to introduce theeuro .On 10 September 2008, speaking at the launch of an economic forum in a Polish resort of
Krynica-Zdrój , Polish Prime MinisterDonald Tusk announced the ruling government's objective to join theEurozone in 2012, by holding a referendum in 2010 and been approved by theEuropean Central Bank in 2011.
