Former Wharton Dean Patrick Harker pointed out that "Wharton was the first American business school, founded in 1881. Wharton School Publishing is really an extension of the School's longstanding commitment to excellence in business education, thought leadership, and to the creation and dissemination of knowledge. This initiative also reinforces our belief that people learn in multiple ways - whether it be books, audio or interactive tools. Wharton School Publishing's variety of offerings will meet those needs."

Wharton School Publishing distributes its titles through the Safari Books Online e-reference service.

Editorial Board members

The Wharton School imprint is directed by Tim Moore and Jerry Wind. The Editorial Board of Wharton School Publishing comprises the 24 faculty members charged with finding both book ideas and new authors. Titles are vetted by "a cross-disciplinary group of the School's senior faculty members [who] know who is breaking new ground... and [can] differentiate between what is truly thought leadership vs. the latest 'fad' thinking." The Editorial Board ensures all manuscripts and materials meet Wharton's standard by addressing important topics with ideas and insights that are relevant, empirically based, timely, conceptually sound, and implementable in real decision settings.
