football teams both took out leases next to the sports medicine complex to build cutting edge training facilities and fields. With some of the pillars of the region in the University, the NFL franchise and the major college sports teams all being active in the area, the city and county were able to build on that foundation to make the former industrial site attractive to retailers and office developers.

Further plans

A convert|38000|sqft|m2|-2|abbr=on fitness center is also being considered as well as the completion of close to convert|350000|sqft|m2|-3|abbr=on of 2nd and 3rd floor office space above the complex. A riverfront pavilion is also planned for hosting smaller concerts by touring groups as well as the local Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

A 200 room hotel and 150 unit condo are also planned for the site.

Also, Hofbräuhaus is to be built behind The Cheescake Factory. It is scheduled to be open in the Spring of 2008.
