- Reed's School
Reed's School is an independent day and boarding school for boys located in
Cobham, Surrey ,England . It was founded in1813 by the Reverend Andrew Reed as the London Asylum for Orphans, a charitable boarding school. The orphanage was sponsored by a host of notables including the Duke of Wellington.The School was originally sited in
Clapton ,London , moving toWatford ,Hertfordshire , in1872 , and to its present site inCobham, Surrey , in1946 .It began to take fee-paying pupils in1958 , but retains its charitable element, with Foundation Scholarships for boys who have lost one or both parents.It also maintains strong connections with the Armed Forces.It is a small school of only 550 pupils — boys only until the fifth form, admitting girls in the sixth form.The School's Patron is Her Majesty the Queen, who officially visited the school in 1997.
Academic Reputation - The Times 2008 school league tables placed Reed's 396th and 420th for its GCSE and A-level performances respectively.
