Route 17, also known as
Chief Peguis Trail, is a short at-gradeexpressway inWinnipeg ,Manitoba ,Canada . The highway connects Routes 52 (Main Street) and 42 (Henderson Highway). It is the shortest and lowest numbered city route, being only about 1.5 km (about 1 mile) long. Despite its short length, the speed limit is 80 km/h (50 mph). The roadway was opened on October 19,1990 , and officially named the Chief Peguis Trail on November 1,1991 . expressway . In the2007 Winnipeg Preliminary Capital Budget, $34.8 million is forecast over the next three years to complete the extension from Henderson Highway to Lagimodiere Blvd. A total of $1.3 million is set aside in the2007 budget itself.
